Am Australian on working holiday visa looking to marry Uk citizen. My visa expires in 6 months. Am looking at a simple marriage, thinking of Las Vegas, for the cheese factor and to make the whole ceremony a lot less stressful with families involved etc. Elope.. that's the word.
We would like to remain living and working in the Uk. Is going with the simple Las Vegas option going to cause problems with obtaining a marriage visa when I apply to the home office?? Any advice is appreciated...
    Cheers

    Hi,

Answer to your question could be yes and no,depends on all other factors as well. You have to have more then 6 months left on your visa, you will have to prove your relationship, and so on.

    Hi Sarah,
I'm in the same situation as you, except that I have a little longer (my WHV expires in Oct), and we're also thinking of popping over to Vegas for a week and visiting Elvis :)
Have you found out any more information? Personally I didn't learn much from the link posted by Triple H, it didn't sound like our situation.
Do you know if we're allowed to go to Vegas, marry, come back to UK, enter on our still valid WHV and then apply for spouse visa (I assume using FLR(M))? I don't want to have to go all the way back home in Oct as we're planning to visit in Feb 07 for a large family celebration and we can't afford to travel to Oz twice in 6 months.
Other than that the only thing I can think of is a small civil ceremony in Italy. Or apply for C of A and then Spouse which is a little more expensive and means we have to marry in UK, but gives us a little more time...

In your situation , YES!.I am almost certain this would work for you.
The only guidence on IND Iis that you must have visa for more than 6 months and more than 3 months remaining to be able to switch it. Unfortunately many people that come here (this site)never come back and say this thing worked , this thing did not. :( ,and I advised few
    GOOD LUCK!
