✎ EN UK Spouse Visa, want to bring US Wife back to London.

    Hi,

    My fiancee is a US citizen and I am a british Citizen, she lives in New York and I in London. We are due to be married out in New York in June 2006. After marriage we plan to settle back in London.

    I would like to know how best I can get my wife as she will then be back to London pretty much straight after the marriage. We get marraied on a Sat then are looking to go on Honeymoon to the Far East from there come back to London for good. Is this possible or would she need to stay in NY and complete papers after marriage!?

    I would be extremly grateful for any help and advise on how best to get her over here straight after the wedding and honeymoon. I dont want her to have to stay in NY after we are married for any period.

    Hi,

    After you get married, she should apply for an EEA Family Permit for her. CHeck out this thread as I listed there what documents you need to apply for.

    Since she is in New York where the UK Emabssy is, it shouldn't take more than 5 business days to process the application. That's the best part, no red tape whatsoever!

    If you are British and you are taking your spouse back to the UK, you can't get an EEA Family Permit. That's only if nationals of other EEA states (not the UK) take their spouse to the UK. You need to get a visa for her, and you'll have to show you can support her (money and accommodation) so she won't need to claim any benefits.
