You mentioned that you are a French student. The US is strict with employing foreign nationals without a valid work visa, and that is only possible either through an L visa (inter-company transferee) or an H-1 visa (work visa). In both cases, you will have to find an employer first who will have to file for that visa on your behalf, and the employer would have to show proof that the position being offered to you cannot be filled by local residents, which is a bit hard to do, or companies are just not willing to go through all that trouble. Unless the company is sponsoring an a management level, then that's a different story.

It doesn't work easily in the US that you just want to come over there for summer to work. Some people I heard take the Aupair route, specially if your female. You register with an Aupair agency in your home country and the agency sets you up with a family here for work, or for a summer experience.
