    Hello,
    I'm looking for a summer job in London (july-september) I'm an energetic polish student with some experience as a kitchen porter and cleaner. Do u have anty tips apart from the ones on this website?

    The best tip is to save a bit of money and come to London and try to find directly by knocking on doors for 1 or 2 weeks...

    But what about getting the NI number then? I know it takes a few months to get it, and employers don't really want to hire people without NI numbers. On the other hand, you can get the NI number only when you find a job. So what would be the best solution for a student, who only wants to work in a summertime and to waste as less time as possible?

    If you do not have a NIN, it does not matter. The company will use a temporary NIN and you will have to get a NIN and claim for any tax overpaid you can afterwards. It does not prevent being hired at all.

    Thank You very much for a clear answer! No i feel much better :D There's one more question: will they be making my NIN anyway, even if i'm staying only for summer? Can i use the same NIN whenever I come back to UK? :?:

    You have not understood me competly. If you do not register to the British department in charge of the NIN (see our section on [ur=http://www.easyexpat.com/london_en/work_national-insurance-number.htm]NIN[/url]), they will use an automatic tax number to calculate your tax. As this is a temporary number, you do not it to keep it if you leave England or give it when you come back.
