    Hi, my name is Svetlana.
I'm Latvian and first arrived in the UK on 30.04.2003 as seasonal agricultural worker, have been working as a student till october 2003.Then I applied for self-emloyed visa for 1 year in the Home Office and from 30.10.2003 till 30.10.2004 have been self-employed.From 01.12.2004 have changed status from self-emloyed to employed (because of EU from 01.05.2004) and till this time i have been working in the UK WITHOUT interruption 2 years, paid all tax, NI.
I've got married with NON-EU member in december 2004 and I've been applied for RESIDENCE PERMIT with EEC1 form. The Home Office send me my papers back(but didn't refuse my aplication) because of Worker Registratiton Scheme, but according to the law:you needn't to be registred under WRS if you've been workin' legally in the UK more then 12 month.I did write letter with evidence and send all papers back. Now I am still waiting some reasons. But already 4 month I feel me terrible,I worry for my pasport.
    The question are:
1)How long the Home Office can keep your pasport?
    2)Will i get residence permit?
I will be realy happy for all information would be given.

If you need your passport for whatever reason, just write to them and it will be sent to you by registered mail.

Secondly, there is no need to be worried. The delay for issuing you with a residence permit could be due to a backlog at the Home Office. In either case under EU Law the Home Office should reply to your request within a period of 6 months. Just give it a few more weeks and lets hear from you.
