    Hi all,

Im permanent resident ( non eu origin)of czech republic and would like to move to uk do i need visa? or i can move freely like normal eu citizen. If i need visa then do you see in nearby future, Eu parliament passing law which will allow free movements within Eu to permanent residents of new member countries just like their citizens.looking to hear from you once again.
    Thanks

Freedom of Movement Rights in the EU only applies to EU Citizens and their Family members. Freedom of Movement for Non-EU Permanent Residents is determined under the Schengen agreement where Permanent Residents of Schengen signatory countries are allowed Free Movement for up to 3 Months at a time for Visits.

Freedom of Movement for Economic Purposes under the Schengen has been agreed by the EU but is currently being discussed by most National Parliaments and yet to be applied in Practice.

Trying to apply the above Principles to your case here are the facts. The New EU Countries including the Czech Republic are not signatories of the Schengen Agreement yet. They have to sign up to it for any benefit to be derived from a non-EU permanent citizens in these new countries.

Secondly, the UK opted out of the Schengen Agreement so unless its Parliament legislates to adopt the New laws for any future benefit for a non-EU citizen, Schengen agreements for the benefit of non-EU permamnet residents will still not be applicable to the UK.

In this respect I'm afraid you cannot take advantage of any of the Schengen Free Movement Protocol to settle in the UK.
