Hi, I'm a US citizen marrying an Irish citizen in December.

Am I correct in that after we're married, I can apply for a "leave to remain" stamp on my passport? Will this enable me to work in Ireland?

I've been living in Ireland for the past 4 years as a graduate student. Because I will have at least 4 years of residency (possibly 5 if I stay in Ireland for a little while longer), am I eligible to apply for Irish citizenship?

But instead if I just decide to live in Ireland with the "leave to remain" stamp, is there any way I can avoid the non-EU queues when I travel within the EU? Is there a special identity card I can get, or am I forever fated to fill up my American passport with stamps from EU countries?
