Re!

A bientôt

Hola Bozena,
Welcome to Madrid!
We are always looking for more English speakers to join us and we don't know many Polish here at the moment!

What brings you to Madrid, work or study or both?

I've already post on here.. but unfortunately most of the people I met have already left or gone somewhere different, in some way.
I'm a 22 year old guy from Northern Ireland.. I've been here for 6 months but would really like to meet some new people to hang out with.. Looking for anyone at all who wants to have lunch/coffee/go out at night.. anything! And any language or country, I don't really mind!

Only doing my duty young Gareth.. the thread was starting to fall by the wayside a tad.
Seems you were right about my age.. why do I still think I'm 22..?? But I had drank a bottle of wine when I posted that! A possible explanation me thinks.

Hey my name is Lisa, 21 years old from Sweden..I'm completely new here so I don't know anyone and I wanna get to know people I can hang out with :) I'm working and I moved here on my own, so yeah, here I am without anything to really do in my days off.. sucks. Anyway, I'd love to meet people that are in the same situation or just wanna get to know some new friends..
So, social people in Madrid please let me know where you're at!! :)

Hello Jamie,

I've been here 9 months now but still have plenty of exploring to do. Am also one of the few people not an au pair or an English teacher!
I can receive private messages on here but can't send any (for some reason) so if you would rather email me instead you can pick up my personal email address from a few messages back, probably a page or 2 back on the thread lol OR you can figure out my work email address from the clues below (to avoid it getting picked up by spam bots!)

gareth dot sewell at test hyphen direct
dot com

Steven is trying to organise a meetup with some of the other newbies who have messaged him privately or have posted on here recently for this weekend. I have some visitors over to surprise my flatmate for her birthday this weekend but I will try to meet up with everyone at some point this weekend or the following week (as I live only a few stops from Sol)

Hasta pronto todo el mundo!

Gareth

wow, looking for friends online! Who'd have thought it - I guess I need to now though :D

I've been here since last year but I made the mistake of really only staying within my small group of English friends! Mistake! Now theyre going home and I'm on my todd :geek:

I'd like to make some English friends - and Spanish friends this time! Need to practise the language more.

Anyone staying around??

I've spoken to some guys through PMs, but my attempted 'get-together' for the new people last Saturday didn't quite happen.... Maybe this weekend if anyone wants to do something, then get in touch!? Saturday is a good night to go out in the bars because of El Clasíco.. always a good atmosphere!

Gareth/Mr Madrid.. this is usually your duty! Why am I doing your dirty-work!? ;)

Well Stephen, I have a big night planned for Friday this week. And unfortunately I know you don't do Friday nights due to saturday work commitments.
Those of you who are on the MadridBabel mailing list or attend their twice weekly intercambios at the "quiet man" will know that they are having a woodstock/hippy themed party this friday at "Amor Brujo" on principe de vergara near metro station concha espina. As it is being arranged by the intercambio gang expect most people there to speak English but the majority going so far appear to be Spanish.

Starts at 930 pm, entry is 10€ but you get 2 beers for that or a combinado and cocktail dinner (not sure if that means food or not)

Steve, remember I showed you this place, its near black star bar and met bar at the end of calle serrano. Black star bar is free entry all night, has 2 bars and a dancefloor, opens at 10pm and closes at 6am so that is another option if amor brujo gets boring. I will post more details of the event when I get home.

ok so here are the full details as promised.

This FRIDAY, APRIL 15, from 21:30 MadridBabel invites you to the most original international FLOWER POWER PARTY you have ever been to. The party will take place in the AMOR BRUJO CLUB (Príncipe de Vergara 225 – metro Concha Espina, as well as a service to leave you car).

STOP alarm clocks, objectives, fines…. Transport yourself to the real Woodstock and disconnect for some hours. There will be revival images, performances, incense, hair ribbons and daisies. You will dance to Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones, The Who, Van Morrison, Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater, The Beatles and a lot more: the best music of that time!

Furthermore, those who wish to come along with a hippy touch will participate in a raffle to win a trip to the May flower festival in Cordoba.

BE HIPPY FOR A NIGHT!!!

The entrance will cost €10, which includes 1 mixed drink or 2 beers until 1:30 and a cocktail dinner until 23:00.

Don't forget to bring your friends because it's going to be the most entertaining party of the spring
