English for French Conversation Exchange in Paris

Postby darren1171 » Tue Oct 19, 2010 2:25 pm

Hello,

I am moving to Paris at the beginning of November and I wish to improve my French conversation skills.

I am a 27 year old native english speaker and my last job was as a full time English teacher for a year. I have certs, many books, notes etc. and have taught all levels of English including the IELTS and Business English to professionals and students alike.

I am looking to simply exchange English lessons for French conversation lessons from a native french speaker in Paris.

If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible and we could discuss further arrangements.

Ps. I have a very friendly personality! Truly! :P

Best Regards,
Darren

Try going to http://www.conversationexchange.com I have been living in Paris since last December and I've met quite a few people for conversation exchange through that site. There are several hundred Parisians to choose from, or you can simply put up your profile and wait for people to contact you. Try putting something interesting or funny in your profile, most of the people who have contacted me did so because they thought my profile was funny. I was contacted by a lot of women because I am married and they prefer to meet someone who is not going to hit on them.

I've also heard of several other sites including http://www.mylanguageexchange.com/ www.polygotclub.com but I haven't used them personally. Some of the sites are for group language exchanges as well, but my French is not up to that level yet, I prefer one on one conversation exchange.

So check out the other sites if you want, or do an internet search and find some more sites yourself. I had great success with conversation exchange though. I had a great reply rate there, almost everyone I messaged met with me. Also I get messages quite often from there from people who wish to meet with me. Most people are available in the evenings and on the weekends but I did find a few who could meet during the day as well.

Good luck,
Mixam

Hi Mixam,

That all sounds fantastic. Thanks very much for all that info you shared. Perhaps if you wish we could meet for a coffee or beer or something, just for a chat, when I reach Paris? I'm moving there with my girlfriend of 3 years so I won't be looking to hit on anyone either!! so not bothered about what the women may worry about, etc.. I too would prefer one to one conversation, my level is not bad but Im WAY out of practice. I guess its important for that reason too that the the person is somewhat patient and speaks slowly. What are you doing over there? Well anyways thanks again Mixam, will look into those options pronto.

Cheers,
Darren
