Cost of living in Kuwait

Postby EasyExpat » Wed Mar 17, 2010 11:28 pm

Hi,

We are interested by your feedback on the cost of living in Kuwait. With Easy Expat we have already a useful tool to compare the cost of living in some major cities in the world.

However we do not cover all the countries, nor all the destination where you can eventually decide to expatriate.

If you live in Kuwait, you can help the community and give information about the cost of living in Kuwait. You might be able to give indication and comments on the needs:
 Food (what to expect, what to find).
 Accommodation price in Kuwait. Rent?
 Transport (public transport but also the necessity and cost of using a car)
 Services (gaz, electricity, telephone, internet...)
 Tax
 Health, Education
 Entertainment (restaurant, cinema, theatre...)
 ... etc.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience with the community 8-)

These are some basic costs for things in Kuwait in US dollars.

Food varies quite a lot, a meal out costs anywhere between $5 and $30. Buying food from supermarkets is about the same as in the west but certain things can be more. Cheese can cost around $10 with branded soft drinks such as Coca Cola and Pepsi $10 a bottle.

Rent In Kuwait (see http://www.masahati.com/) cost around $400 a month for a one bedroom apartment, for a 3-bedroom apartment you're looking at more like $650.

Transport is fairly resonable. The average jouney is around $5 one way, or you can get a weekly travel pass for about $24.
