Hello, I have a couple of questions for anyone who can hopefully give me the correct answers, but first a bit of explaining. I met a lovely person from Wales, UK a few years ago, and we really hit it off and got on well. She is in Wales now and I'm in the US. Since we met we have talked daily online for over three years now and have planned on my going there to live with her at her home. I have never been to another country, so I checked on the UKs customs site, and from what I can tell, I can apply to stay as her unmarried partner and stay for up to 27 months, near the end of which time I can apply for a "remain to stay" visa......and then apply for British Citizenship. The time has come now, and I would like to go over within a month or so. My questions are these: 1) Does anyone have any experience with with staying in the UK for this 27 month period as an unmarried partner? Any info would help. 2) Since I was planning on staying I was going to buy a one way ticket, but now I have been told that I will not be let in the country if I don't have a round trip ticket. Is this true. What is the reasoning for this? I'm sure it has something to do with 9-11. I just want to get to the UK as soon as possible, and I would like to have everything sorted and have a minimum amount of problems.
