    Work for Non-EU Spouse

    Hi everyone

Hopefully someone can help as having spent hours looking for information online I am none the wiser!

I am from the UK and work in Germany, my wife a Thai citizen has come to live with me and was granted a D visa on the basis of our marriage. She would like to get a job but we are unsure whether she is allowed to. A couple of potential employers we have spoken to expressed their concern but could not clarify either way.

Would be grateful if someone could shed some light for us.

    Cheers! :)

Basically, under EU rules, as a family member she has rights to stay and work as long as you exercise one of your EU treaty right (employed, looking for work, student...etc).

The British consulate in Germany should be able to confirm exactly that.

Thanks for your response Cyril. I have established that she was able to work from the day she arrived in Europe. Her residence permit which we will pick up within the next week will confirm she has permission to work so we will have something in black and white to show potential employers.
