    Earlier in October, Portugal’s Prime Minister said the government has decided to terminate the 10-year tax relief scheme for new residents, calling it a “fiscal injustice”.

    The scheme impacted the housing market, creating the fourth-highest price hike in the European Union for the second quarter of 2023.

    The ensuing housing crisis caused protests throughout Portugal by disgruntled locals who no longer can afford homes.
