Given a choice, all of us would like to rent somewhere in central London, with good transport links and in desirable areas but more often than not budget is the main restricting factor.

I find the book "London for Londoners" quite a good resource if you have not zoom in on a particular area in London to reside as yet. It gives a good breakdown of pros and cons of living in each area.

After you have decide on an area, I would recommend going to either rightmove.co.uk or zoopla.com to for a guideline of current rental prices. Approach gumtree.com if you don't mind renting from landlords direct, otherwise head to the area and look for property agents on the main thoroughfare. Good thing about agents is that you'll get to see a number of properties at once and all relevant paperwork will be done nicely.

Of course there are a number of things to look out for as well. I've written down some of them at http://www.singaporeaninlondon.com/2010/08/london-accommodation-tips-for.html. Might be of some help to you.

Hope that you'll find your property soon!

When you decide to travel to London for work bsucar knew this meant a place to stay.
I report many sites that I rented apartments, but did not want to invest much.
This is how through a friend knew of a place of cheap accommodation with service cheap bed and breakfast in london, and tell me I do not regret it at all choose this option, as they have quality, price and first class service.
It is difficult to rent for all apartments in foreign cities, which is why I recommend this type of information.

    Hi,

You should look towards central London which has some great newly constructed home available for rent as well as for sale too. With good transport links and other required amenities too the central areas such as Kensington, Belgravia and Marylebone become more famous. For that, you can also take a good London letting agent advice too.

Nowadays it is not very difficult to find rental properties, thanks to good real estate firms who make this task a lot easier. There are many reputed real estate firms in London and many more, where they give you amazing offers on rentals and properties for sale as per your budget.

go to united kingdom on CL and look up places. there are rental agents that can help you not get taken. on CL advertised. don't send any money now if you see a place you may like.

Most people look on Gumtree under the Flatshares Offered section
    http://www.gumtree.com/flatshare-offered/london

I would guess CL is referring to Craigslist. In Berlin, there are often English postings for accommodation on Craigslist but they tend to be slightly more expensive. You also must be especially vigilant as there is no outside source verifying that these are not scams. That said we have had good experiences using short-term rentals on the site - but be careful!

Firstly, get your eyes on details and read in between the lines to make sure there will be no hidden charge. Be aware that some meeting rooms, which seem to be too cheap to be true, are actually not cheap at all.
