    Hi,

Could anyone recommend a good inexpensive Arab restaurant in Kuala Lumpur? Preferably, within the city center. I have tried those in Bukit Bintang but feel disappointed.

    Ruth

    Hi, Ruth

You are right, the prices in the Arab restaurants of Bukit Bintang are quite high. There is a new one, called Arabesque in Chinatown. It comes up in Trip Advisor search, I tried it a month ago. But they use a lot of acid by mixing vinegar and lemon juice in all dishes.. So, if your stomach is as sensitive as mine, beware ;) I suffered with stomachache for a week after the dinner there.

Very recently, I was looking for a Fresh Fish grilled in Arab style. and a friend of mine recommended to check Suria Restaurant at 388, Jalan TAR, between Masjid India and Chow Kit. The restaurant is a family-run business. They are famous for their use of farm fresh meat, veggies and the best prices in town.
The place is not far from SOGO shopping mall; it took us about 5mins to reach it by walk.Next to it there are 7/11 and Mydin stores. The interior of the restaurant is simple and , well, cheap. But the chef really knows his job! Here are the items we picked out for a quick lunch.

    1. Arab Rice 12RM it was so large that we opt to share it :)
    2 Hummus 5RM.
    3 Falafel 5RM.
    4 Mutabbal 5 RM.
5 some freshly baked traditional pastries at 4RM per portion.

The servings are really generous. That meal for 2 cost us just 31 RM. We were enjoying our lunch while our Fresh Grilled Fish was being prepared in front of us. The prices were the pleasant surprise. 1kg of Fresh Fish Grilled cost us only 30RM! I enjoyed their meal a lot! Happy trying!
