It can be difficult to find the best place to live in a new city. This is even more difficult for an expat who is not familiar with the country and culture. So where is the best place to live in Moscow?

What do you look for in a neighborhood? What do different neighborhoods offer? What area would you recommend based on:
    - Schools
    - Transportation
    - Access to shops and groceries
    - Nightlife and Activities

Where do you live? What do you like about it? Are there any dangerous areas? Are some areas more affordable?

Thank you in advance for your contribution. This is a very common question for expats moving to Moscow and your help is much appreciated.

Re: The Best Areas to Live in Russia

We chose to live in Frunzenskaya, on the Red metro line. We are overlooking the Moskva river and are very close to the footbridge to Gorky Park.
We love this area because it is so green! In the summer we go skating along the river, all the way around Luzhniki, which is also a great area to explore.
Gorky Park is great in summer and winter. In the summer you can sunbathe by the river (where there are also showers), hire a bicycle or stroll in the park. Every weekend there are events, like pop concerts, films, etc. Kids can do tree climbing or play in lots of playgrounds in the park.
In the winter the biggest ice rink of eastern Europe is there for several month.
There are enough shops in Frunzenskaya and there is a market in the summertime every day (close to the metro station).
It is only 3 stops to get you to the heart of the city, the Red Square.

    Hello and welcome to EasyExpat.com.

Many thanks for your information. I moved your message in the specific forum on Moscow.

I can imagine that the city must be pretty cold at the moment. How long have you lived here ?

Maybe you can help with our other topics for expats, in the  Forum. You can recognise them with a [IMG] such as: Public Transportation in Moscow or Going out and meeting people in Moscow for example.
