    Hello

I asked this question in Departures, but got no replies.

I am thinking of going to France from the UK looking for work and am trying to find out if it is possible to get unemployment benefit while doing so.

Also is it possible to get onto any courses in France.

    Thanks

    Ken Thompson

You already seem to think the French way, congratulations....

You can in fact register for unemployment benefits in the UK, then transfer the UK benefit to any country in the EU, while you are looking for a job.
But you will receive the amount of money you would have received in the UK :( , in Euros , and this will only be given to you for three months.

    And this is EU rules.

In my previous answer I assumed that you were a british or EU citizen. Is this right ?

If this is right "carte de séjour" was abolished in November 2003 for EU citizen coming to work in France. :)

if this is wrong, you won't be entitled to unemployment benefits, and you will need a "carte de séjour".
