    I am a non-EEA NATIONAL and I have recently obtained a "Permanent Residence Card" from home office uk. In the past 5 years i do not need a visa (with out any problem) to travel to schengen contries with my " Residence card of family member of an EEA national" on my passport. Yes, i was travelling with my wife.

    My question is;

    Do i need a visa (with permanent residence card on my passport) for travelling to schengen contries with my wife who is EEA NATIONAL?

    Do i still need a visa if i travel without my wife to schengen countries?

    I have found that if you are travelling to germany and sweden, you do not need a visa for non-EEA nantional who has Permanent Resident Card from uk.

    Regards

    You DO NOT need a visa for short stays in European countries if you are holding a valid UK residence permit with the endorsement "family member of EEA national" (this endorsement is compulsory to be visa exempted).
    BUT you need to be travelling with the EU national.

    If you do not satisfy the above conditions (you want to travel without your wife), you will need to apply for a visa to travel for a short stay Schengen visa to EU countries, i.e. pay the visa administrative fees and produce all requested supporting documents.

    EEA4 is for permanent residence applications by non-EEA family members of EEA nationals, so this is the correct thing in your situation.

    In theory your permanent residence card allows you to travel within the EU. But just in case, it would be a good idea to have also with you another document as proof that you are the family member of an EU citizen (just in case).

    They should all know about it as this is a legal document and makes enforcement within the EU. However just in case, your marriage certificate will be an additional evidence for the case officer (just to be on the safer side as I said).
