I'm not French, but I'd love to meet some people working here in London. Professionally, I'm an English teacher, but I work here as an au pair. I would love to learn about Spanish culture and catch some Spanish words. In exchange, I can introduce you to a most difficult Polish language, but also to English. First and foremost, however, I would love to find here some new friends here, it is much more interesting to go sightseeing together.

I found it really difficult when I first moved to London. Despite how much stuff there is and how many people it's not always easy. I resisted using websites or apps for ages, cos I figured that's what sad people do, but I think in today's world it is really just the reality.

I found a site called www.townfish.com, which is just for London and basically allows you to find people who share your interests and also just general things you enjoy.

It is brilliant meeting people randomly, but just to find your feet in the city, I would definitely suggest using websites and apps. Ideally do it with a friend, or ensure your safety anyway. Not all social network or social discovery sites are inappropriate, in fact most are full of great people wanting to do more stuff.
