I am wondering where to write to find military records. My grandfather served in the Polish Armed Forces sometime between 1919 and 1940. But I can not confirm the exact dates. I know he was in school 1923-24.
I found there was a reference to an address in Britain, for personnel serving during the 2nd war. But he had served prior to and between the 2 wars. I had contacted the Polish Embassy in Ottawa in October about this and was told to wait. Thank you for any leads.

Since I have not heard back in regards to my request for military records through the Polish Embassy and no response here so far. If everything goes according to plan, I am planning to go travel to Poland later this year.
Where is the best place to start in Warsaw to obtain these records? I do not have much to go on other than a photo of my grandfather and his brother being in a military uniform and a separate photo of my great uncle in uniform and that one is dated with a town name as well.
I do have a couple of other documents that give clues as to where and when my grandfather was born. I am not sure if these other documents will be of any use when there. I do know that my grandfather was at the Warsaw Polytechnic School in 1923-1924. Since I do have a copy of his student id card. Hopefully that will be helpful in obtaining copies of his student records. Thanks.

This site seems to imply military records are stored regionally,
and many are on microfilm at the Church of Latter-Day Saints:

Perhaps you might start at Wojewoda Mazowiecki in Warsaw.
I know this isn't much to go on, but I do hope that this helps.

I was in touch with the Polish Embassy in Ottawa, Canada and they provided me an address and an email for the military archives. Since I do not have the military unit that my grandfather or his brother served with, maybe someone may answer this question or two.
Does anyone know where I can get a list of military units that may have been stationed in different locations if I have a date and a location name? Also, relatives are still trying to tell me that my grandfather may have been a witness to the incident at Katyn in 1940. What about obtaining the names of the different military units that lost personnel there and how to obtain a list of survivors from each unit.
I am not sure if the archives will honour this type of request or if they are able to do so. Since this may be outside their capacity, but I can always send this request in to them to see what happens and then inform everybody afterwards. But I just wanted to double check to see if there are more informed people here. Thanks all. Without the military unit or time frame, the archives may not be able to assist very much. I also do know that my grandfather may have served during the Warsaw Uprising of 1920 from what an older cousin has said.
