Hi my partner and i are going to move out to london i a short while for (hopefully) many years and we will need a bank account. For visa reasons, i would like to bank account ot be in both our names (so opening a joint bank account) but it turns out we can't do it from france. Do you guys have any ideas as to how to do it from france? Or do you know if it is hard to open a joint bank account in london if ur partner is non-eu and on an eea family permit (which will hopefulyl b eprolonged into a residence card in 6 months) hope you'll be able ot help me manudam
Opening a bank account has usually nothing to do with being a national or EU member but to have a legal status, work contract (it helps)...etc. From France you can check with HSBC, they are also the first retail bank in England.
Well i know Halifax only let you open a joint account from one of their branches. I would suggest you just look on UK bank websites and look at their joint accounts section & hopefully you will find the right one for you. You might be able to open a single person bank account online at LLoyds TSB & then add your partner to that.
