    Hi there everyone.
I am a British citisen and my partner is a failed somali assylum.

Me and my partner have applied for COA-Marriage in OCT 2005 and we still havent recieved an answer from the home office.
We have wrote letters to them, faxed them, complained to them and recently to other people like the Prime minister, Home secretery, Ombudsley and our local PM But still they are SO ignorant!

However, yesterday we got a questionnaire from them to write our own affidative and to answer the questions on there.

Has anyone else had this questionnaire?
Does this show that the caseworkers are actually working on our case now?
How long will it then take for them to consider after you send the affidative to them?
How long does your case take to consider after you send this?
And Also, how long has it taken everybody else to get a certificate of approval?

    not yet

nope, not got a reply yet.
I think when they get the affidavit from you they supposed to take 3 weeks at most, right?
...Well, its been our second week so far...just waiting for next week to finish then probably decide to contact them again.
But please, if you can keep me up to date if you hear anything from them then that would be much appreciated as i want to hear everybodys stories, that are in the same position as me.
    Thankya!

Yea you can apply for indefinate leave to remain. That is what we are going to do next!
As We got our certificate of approval for marriage finally!!!....i cant believe we were waiting for 2 plus years for just a tatty old A4 sized paper that looks like the big sized birth certificate!

All it has, is just you and your parnters names, date of birth, nationality, passport number, gender with both your photos on each side at the top of the page and thats it!

We received the Affidavit on August 18th and sent it off August 20th and got our certificate of approval today 7th September which is 3 weeks exactly...i'm so happy!!!

Hey which means that you will recieve yours soon!

When did you send yours off? ..then count 3 weeks from that...hopefully that will be your date of receiving it!

    hi

    Hi,

Just reading that you have sent off your affidavit. Please can you let me know when you receive your COA. My fiance has applied for a COA and we just received an affidavit which we sent back just over a week ago. I'm wondering how long it takes before we hear back? Does it definitely take three weeks and no sooner?? Hope you get yours soon.

got my COA sept 8th 2007

meow....am so sorry i have not come to this forum for a long time....but in one of my other posts, which you can find on my profile, i told everybody that i got my COA on september the 8th 2007

I said, I have finally got my certificate of approval for marriage from the home office and so now i'm hoping to register my marriage and then my partner will need to apply for Indefinate leave to remain.

Which we have since then, booked our 2 weeks notice to marry and that will hopefully be over this monday 8th october 2007 as we are going to get married at the registrar and finally attain our marriage certificate which we can then send off along with our application for Indefinate leave.

We have also, got a solicitor now for the rest of our applications for the Indefinate leave, he is absoloutely excellent and very informative....the name, Turpin and miller solicitors in oxford (if you live closeby). And its Leagl aid too!!!

Oh btw, for anybody reading this, in same situation as me...the solicitor told me that i needed the FLR(M) form when i apply for ILR...i thought it would have been the SET(M) form. But anyway, still check with your own solicitors...i do reccommend you get one for your next part.
