Just wondering if someone has the same problem.
I am from one of those countries that joined the EU in 2004 (I know-not so much liked). Before that I lived here on a student visa and was working.
After the enlargement people entering from those countries had to register on the worker's registration scheme. For me that was not needed as I was working here legally and paid my taxes but had to apply for a residence card. This card was given for five years. Now this is due to expire.
My employer demands a a new residence card/work permit from me as they think that card is expired so I can't work here! They don't understand I don't need anything to carry on living here.
Unbelievable...I am actually sick of explaining to companies the whole story.

 

They do have my passport...
