    Hello,

My boyfriend and I recently got engaged. He lives in England (he is English) and I live in the US (I am American). We would like to marry next year in the USA and then go live in the UK. Does anybody know what paperwork he will need to marry me in the US?

Also, when we go back to the UK together, I will be his wife. Will I need any special forms to be filled out before I go? Or can I take care of all of that once I get into the UK as his wife?

I know these questions get asked repeatedly on here but not everybody's situation is exactly the same.

Thank you for your help!! This is a fantastic site!

    first of all, Congratulations! :D
It should not be too tricky, I believe though if you guys are getting married that your man would be able to get a green card (if that is what you guys want) and you could legally live in the UK with proof of being his wife. Here is an article on the things you guys need to fill out when he comes or better yet before he gets to the US. http://www.shusterman.com/marriage.html
As for you moving to the UK this site might help better clarify than my jibber jabber :).

Basically you being his wife will make you be able to live there without a problem. Here is another article that might help as well.
    Hope the marraige is lovely!

Thank you so much for your reply, Expated. After doing more research and calling around, I found out that all he needs to marry me in the US is a photo id that shows his current address and age. This could vary state to state but it works for where we are getting married.

As for how to handle the issue of acquiring a visa so we can move to the UK immediately after the wedding....we decided to get married early and keep it a secret from our families until after the ceremony next year. This way, I will already have my visa in hand when we fly to the UK.

I was sent an email by Worldbridge with all of the paperwork I will need to fill out for a spousal visa.

    Thank you everyone!
