Hi. I was born in Spain. My mother is Spanish & my father is British. We moved from Spain to England when I was a baby. My parents moved back to Spain 7 years ago. I have only ever had British nationality. I am hoping to move out to Spain with my son soon. Can I claim dual nationality? Can I claim it for my son? Thanks

    Hi,

Spain does not recognise dual-citizenship for adults except with some South American countries, Andorra, Philippines, Equatorial Guinea and Portugal.

Children are allowed to hold multiple passports until they are 18, when they will have to choose to remain solely Spanish or some other nationality.

If you do decide to go ahead and obtain Spanish citizenship, you´ll have to formally renounce your former nationality before a Spanish judge, and swear an oath of allegiance to the Spanish crown.
