Can anyone advise - we are sponsoring Croatian national to study here for one year, but she has been refused student visa as we didn't get good advice and the course for which she had a place isn't recognised in Croatia - the embassy couldn't understand why she was doing it and refused visa on the basis that they didn't think she would go back. IAS have advised that although she is a non-visa national she should apply for a vistors visa if she intends to come here for a holiday (we want her to come so we can properly discuss what her next steps should be with regards study - possibly in Croatia). How can she provide evidence that she'll go back that'll convince them to give her a V Visa? (she is not working). What are the risks if she comes for a holiday without a visa, now she has 'visa refused' in her passport?

if you have previously been refused a visa for, or entry to, the UK you may want to apply for one to find out if you qualify for entry before you travel.

You can always reapply with the new evidence.
Its rather confusing because she wouldnt need visa in the first place and reason for refusal is standard one given to people who need visa to come to the UK.

hello triple... i just wrote what you replied in italics above... what exactly do you mean by the above... how do people check if they qualify for a visa when they have previously been refused?
i know of alot of people that have been refused visas in the past and are so worried about going back with a new application
