    Hello,

I have moved to London on the 1st of December 2003.

I was starting my first contract on the 1st of December for a three months period of time. salay for each month was 2000 pounds.

In this period of time I was paying TAX and emergency national insurance.
I moved to another contract on the 11th of March.

I think that total working months for this year is 4 months period of time, a time which I paid TAX and emergency NI.

My questions is how much TAX return more or less should I be getting if my TAX code indicates that my first 4600 pounds are free of TAX.

Would appreciate any rough calculation here

    Liran

    Re: Tax Return Question

tax year end on 06th April.
to give you the best estimate possible, I need to know:

    - how much you earned in total between December 1st and March 31st.
    - are you single / married with spouse in the UK, kids ?

ok so you earned 6000 between December 1st and March 31st.

    gross salary: 6000.00 GBP
    related tax: 138.50 GBP
    tax paid: 335.77 * 3 = 1007.31 GBP

estimated UK tax refund: 868.81 GBP

    Another question please.

as I am working as a freelance, (on a contract) I use an umbrella company to deal with the TAX and everything.

    My question:

    1. Can I do it myself?
    2. Can I gain more from doing it myself?

This is an example of my last salary:

    total 2150£

after all they have cutted me off, i was left with 1396£.

    Would appreciate any response

As you left UK, you should also complete a P85 form. The completed form should be sent to the tax office dealing with your tax and you should enter your tax reference (if known) and your National Insurance number in the boxes at the top of the front page. You must attach some pages of your P45, as explained on the P85 form.
Note: if you are not a UK citizen and you are leaving the UK after completing a work assignment here you should use the P85(S) form.

    Hi

I came to UK on highly skilled migrant program (HSMP Visa) in Aug 2005 and worked on contract for two organizations from October 2005 to Feb 2006. The P60 for 2005-2006 states my earning of £1991.12 and tax deducted £214.14.

I joined a bank on permanent position in 1st week of March 2006 at a salary of £5000/PM. Due to delay in receiving my P60 from previous employer they did not pay me for March 2006. I was paid a cumulative salary £9347.83 for March and April 2006 (3 weeks of March and full month of April) on 30 April 2006. The gross salary paid was £9347.83 and tax deducted was £3090.30. Later on I was paid regularly a gross of £5000 with a tax deduction of some 1330 every month. Due to my family's health reasons, I decided to leave UK for good and left the UK in Aug 2007. My P45 issued to me states gross salary £27286 and tax paid £7469 {that includes 3 weeks of March 2006 that falls in previous tax year but not shown anywhere on P45}.

Keeping in view the above, how much refund I can claim on leaving UK permanently for 2005-2006 and 2006-2007.

    Regards
    AlleyEmran
