I'm an Australian resident (born here) who has dual citizenship with Italy (father is Italian) and Aust. I am being sent on a secondment to the UK with the intention of coming back to Australia to live within the next 2 years. I am led to believe there are tax breaks (claiming rent, transport etc as tax deduction) for being a foreigner in the UK. My question however is that I was intending on entering the UK on my italian passport as this means I don't have to go through the visa process.... I have a defacto partner who should be able to get an EEA Family Permit in that case. Will this affect my ability to be able to claim the tax benefits from my secondment? (i.e. should I be entering the UK on my Aussie passport with a work permit??) My employer will provide me with a letter that states that I am working in the UK temporarily.
