If you're a Canadian citizen, then you can come into the USA anytime you want. Once in the US, your American husband should file for the change of status for you to grant a spouse visa.

When you cross the border, never tell patrol officers of any indication you may not return to your home country (in this case Canada) as they will not let you in. Just say you are vacationing and seeing friends.

Once you're in, your husband should then start filing for your spouse visa, and processing (if complete paperwork is submitted) is usually around 6 months. During this time, once your papers are submitted you will not be considered out of status (as you will pass the 90 day limit).
