what situation in nigeria? he is fibing.i am from nigeria and presently my sister is on holiday there,there is no situation.he can't get killed,for what?as a nigerian,you cant claim asylum bcos there is no war going on there,it is peaceful apart from people that are poor which is normal in a 3rd world country.do not use the excuse of asylum it won't work.you probably need to go to nigeria and get married there and then come back here and help him.i work in a law firm and i have had clients that are in the same scenario.

 

As a nigerian too, I completely agree with chicapantera1. Besides Nigeria is not on the list of countries that can claim asylum in the UK and almost all EU countries. In fact Nigeria is one of UNHCR's biggest refugee sites in Africa housing refugees from West Africa.

Your boyfriend is not being truthful, and I suspect neither are you. There is no 'situation' there. I was in Nigeria in June with my Spanish husband, I went back alone in September, and I am flying out there tonight.

Your boyfriend cannot be a political asylum seeker - Nigeria's been stable in that regard for about 8 years now, since the death of the last military dictator. At best he is an economic migrant - there are other ways to get round this and settlement programmes to apply for.

I suggest your boyfriend leave the country and reapply at the BHC/Irish High Commission? in Lagos or Abuja. If he tells the whole truth, they may be considerate. I know of such cases.

You may not realise this, but false asylum claims and other dodgy activities that some Nigerians get up to affect every other Nigerian. It makes things difficult for other people who are genuinely trying to get on with their lives in Europe.
