    Hello again!
    (Annonce en Francais: http://www.easyexpat.com/forums/ftopic_6775.htm )
We are a well-educated and professional English couple seeking a genuine and kind French au-pair to help care for our 2 young children.
We would like a girl with a clean driving licence who is confident to drive in this country and has experience looking after children.
We will pay above-average wages, pay for English lessons. We will provide a car, a computer (with ADSL), mobile phone, and a very nice double room.
In return for a genuinely nice girl to look after our daughter aged 7 and
son 3, you will work just 3 days per week. Weekends are always free.
We have a cleaner who comes in weekly.
We live in a lovely village 5km south of Newbury, a large market town in the Royal county of Berkshire. London is just 45minutes away by train.

If you are serious about learning English, then this is the job for you, as we will help you with the language.
    Husband speaks French.
We would like you to help our children with French and speak to them in French as much as possible.
References are essential. This is a serious advertisment and is a great job for the right girl.
We need someone from the beginning of January 2006 for perhaps 6 months. Our current au-pair will be happy to answer your questions if you prefer.

Gosh! 3 au pair already from Easy Expat ? We did not know that it was so popular and results were coming so fast. How long do they stay ? Why do you have to change so often ?

EasyExpat has been fantastic! You would be amazed at how popular it is -we get replies from all over the world!

Au-pairs last between 4 and 6 months we find. We'd obviously prefer longer, but we understand that they have other career ideas. Plus - they improve their English so much with us, they don't need to stay!

    Keep up this great website!

    And au-pairs - reply soon!

I am very happy to hear that. We are always delighted to hear that Easy Expat is useful... that's the ultimate goal! :D

We will develop a job section in 2006 within the small ads section (currently mostly for accommodation search) with au pair ads included. So hopefully it will make things even easier.

PS: I remind you that if you want to post specific comments and give tips for au pairs on our article about au pair in London/UK, feel free to do it using our contribution link at the bottom of the article.

I just re-read your first message. What do you mean exactly by "references"? You want somebody that has already been an au pair before? Or other references (baby sitting...) are ok?
About driving, is someone with a B permit ok even if they have never driven on the left side of the road?
Sorry for those questions, but I am just curious... I've never employed an au pair... ;)

    au pair questions

    Hi
Thank you for your questions. Here's our view:
We don't expect someone to have been an au-pair already, but it helps if someone has experience looking after children - and enjoys looking after chilren - as this is what the job entails. For example - babysitting childen is useful experience.
References can be from someone whose children they looked after, and in France the police can provide a report indicating if there is a clean record.
Driving is often a concern for future au-pairs. We don't expect a person to have driven on the opposite side before. What we would like is someone who can drive a car in their country and has a license. We help them to drive on the left side and give them driving lessons. So far this has worked very well.
    Hope this helps.
    K
