    Hello,
I'm Charlie and my spouse's name is Malgorzata. We are both currently in the U.S., and will be getting married June 1, 2005. (She just arrived on a K-1 fiance visa.) There are several issues I need some help or clarification on.

    RIGHT TO LIVE AND WORK
We are interested in moving to Ireland and then the U.K. for the purposes of work, education, and to live near her family (half of which live presently in Ireland). We intend to spend our lives there.
I have checked the countries websites describing EU nationals rights.
As I understand it, my wife has a right to move to IRL/U.K. and to seek employment, based on her citizenship in an EU Member State.
DOES SHE NEED A WORK AUTHORISATION PERMIT for either country? (I've come across some publications that state since she is a member of a 'new' EU Member State, there are different procedures for her to obtain employment than for 'older' EU Member State nationals). I WANT TO MAKE SURE I AM CORRECT ON THIS.
Besides her right to work, I am unable to get clear information on how long she is entitled to stay in Ireland/U.K..
DOES SHE NEED TO APPLY FOR A RESIDENCE PERMIT (and are there requirements for one, such as employment) in either country?
    More ??????'s.....
MY RIGHTS AS HER SPOUSE TO SEEK/OBTAIN EMPLOYMENT AND RESIDE
After getting in touch with the Irish Embassy in Dublin, I was told that once we arrived, my EU spouse had obtained employment, and we were residing together...that I could apply for a Work Authorisation/Residency Permit. I was also told that this process takes approximately 6 months, during which time, I can't work. IS THIS CORRECT? (i.e. that I can't seek employment 1) until my wife has employment and 2) until I recieve a Work Permit). For economic reasons, we would need to both be working as soon as possible. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON MY RIGHTS TO WORK IN IRELAND OR THE U.K. as the spouse of an EU national?

    LAST QUESTION...I PROMISE :)
The main question I have is regarding EDUCATION. Unknown to me before browsing this web forum, I've come across several postings which mention 'residency' for tuition purposes.
The most important goal for me is to build a strong foundation for us, and our future family, by continuing our education in Ireland/U.K.. (This is also an important factor in meeting qualifications for our professions). We both, however, are thinking about HOW WE WILL BE ABLE TO AFFORD EDUCATION.
AS AN EU CITIZEN, is she entitled to any 'residency' tuition reductions? I have also read that education is free to UK citizens and that EU nationals residing in the country enjoy the same benefits...IS THIS TRUE and where can I find more information on this?
I am concerned about her ability to afford education via financial aid, as the Polish government doesn't seem to offer financial aid such as the U.S. goverment does for me, and right now, we are planning to stay in the U.S. until she recieves her permanent residency (01/2007 about) in order to qualify for federal financial assistance.
AS THE SPOUSE OF AN EU CITIZEN, I am less concerned because my government will allot me about $14,000 Euros per year, which helps. But out of intrigue, are there any 'benefits' for the spouse of an EU citizen in terms of financing one's education in either Irleand or the U.K.?

Bottom Line!!!! We wish to go with ALL OUR HEARTS...but I want to know BOTH of us can to work, attend graduate school, and secure residency.

Thank you sincerely, to anyone who has taken the time to read my questions.
    Best,
    Charlie Tibedo

    Hello,

This will answer most of your questions (UK):
    http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/
You will be considered International students and will have to pay the full amount until you will be living here for 3 years. After 3 years you will pay the same as a UK citizen. They will check your passport to confirm this.

    I hope this helps

    Joanne
