My father lives in the US also but is still a spanish citizen(married my American mother). I am planing to move back to spain next summer. What type of visa would i apply for? Are there any special considerations since in am of spanish decent? Where can I find more info on this topic?

Well, the answer is pretty simple:
US citizens with ordinary passports, valid for a minimum of 6 months, who wish to stay in Spain for tourist or business purposes for up to 90 days DO NOT NEED A VISA.

    Hi Justin,

I have read somewhere, can't remember where, that if you're born in Spain you are not automatically a spanish citizen, but you are eligible for citizenship if you would want to apply for it (except if your parents were diplomats stationed in spain when you were born). (Please verify this information yourself since I couldn't find the source right now.) And if you want to live in spain a citizenship would certainly solve the matter for you. I do not know wether you can hold dual citizenship in this case.

The "Residence visa to reunite a family with a Spaniard or a Citizen of the European Union" applies as follows:

"This visa can be applied for by the spouse, children under 21 years of age, and parents who are economically dependent of either a Spanish citizen or a foreigner permanently residing in Spain."[http://www.spainconsul-ny.org/!consula.doi/!reagrupsp.html]

For more information i suggest you turn to a spanish consulate in the u.s.

    Best of luck

    /Manu
