I am a US citizen married to an Spainish citizen. Right now she is living and working in Madrid. I am still in the states and wish to join her and live in Spain. What will I need to accomplish this task? Does it make it more difficult with me being a US citizen? Is it the same amount of red tape that any non-EU citizen has to go through? I have gotten my Schengen Visa application. and the next time I am in DC I will drop it off but there is not much more online that I have read about US Citizens wanting to go to Spain. I read in this forum that sometimes the consulates are harder on people from different countries. Would the US be part of this now? Given the general consensus of Europe towards the US at this time? And if so will that make it more difficult? I just want to be with my wife, any info that can help me accomplish that goal will be greatly appreciated.
