    Hi,
We had a tough discussion here for EU citizen coming with non EU.

I do not think there is any question of money for your wife to come in UK. Because you are married, then she will have full rights to residence and employment in UK.

    Good luck

    Hallo!

The link to that discussion does not really work, or it is unavailable. Is there a way to view it if it is still somewhere?

I am in a similar situation, since I want to go to Cyprus with my wife, who is a EU citizen. Cyprus is still not a EU country, but it will be. Before that, we would have to be sure about my rights there.

If anybody has some information about the topic, please feel free to share it with me.

    Thanks

Sorry, the link is there: <http://www.easyexpat.com/forum/read_en_30_4_4.htm> (and it works, I checked! ;-) ). I also changed it in my post above.

Hi there again, and thanks for the link repair. I am researching the topic for the first time on the web, and I found contradictory statements from different sources, for example:

    <http://www.labourmobility.com/individuals/faq/>

There is stated that the working permit is valid only in the country of which the spouse is a resident.

I couldn't check the date of the last change on that page, but it seems quite fresh to me.

Another question to Mr. Easy Expat (Mrs?) :) is as follows:

How likely is it that there could be some discrepancy between EU regulations and local regulations, as I read somewhere that they might not be in accordance with EU ones in every little detail. I guess that this would be the case with all the states that will enter the EU in May 2004.

Should I expect that a country like Cyprus will already have all these regulations embedded in their system by the time they enter the EU.

    Thanks.

    BZ

After searching on the Internet about the EU Regulation 1612/68, I found the following information (<http://www.logos-net.net/ilo/150_base/en/instr/eu_26.htm>):
    TITLE III Workers' families
    Article 11
Where a national of a Member State is pursuing an activity as an employed or self-employed person in the territory of another Member State, his spouse [...] shall have the right to take up any activity as an employed person throughout the territory of that same State, even if they are not nationals of any Member State.

Therefore I do not see the point of not being able to work in one of the EU state if you are married to a EU citizen.

The EU regulation is such that it is always wrapping the national laws (and can be challanged in the EU tribunal of La Haye) and Countries have the obligation to transfer to their local laws the EU regulations.

    Voila
