    Hello -

What public transportation is available in Nepal ? Is it easy to move about the cities and country at large? What modes of transport are available: Bus? Underground/Subway? Trams? Trains?

Do you use public transportation in Nepal ? Can you recommend it? Is it safe, inexpensive, and reliable? What is your experience? How much is a basic fare? Is there a monthly card, or discount options?

Thank you for sharing your tips, questions and advice!

It is possible to get around in Nepal with many transportation options. There are many airlines including Yeti Air, Buddha Air and Cosmic Air offer frequent flights to and from Kathmandu including places like Pokhara, Biratnagar, Nepalganj, Lukla, Simikot, Jomsom, Janakpur and Bharatpur.

In addition, transportation options such as micro bus, local bus, tourist bus, rickshaw, taxis, tram, motorcycle, local motorcycle are used. The cheapest ones are the local buses but also the most crowded ones.

Taxis are the most expensive transportation option but it is the best option for the ones who are looking for some privacy during the journey.

Lastly, getting around on foot is another option. Although many motor roads penetrate further into the hinterlands, some places can only be reached by foot.
