I am italian and I worked in UK for 6 months with the contract. My question is: if I ask the tax back and I decide to go back to London do I have to pay back the money once I get a job?

the taxfix company are alright. I'm bulgarian, I worked in the UK 3 times altogether for almost 4 years and at first I used their services BUT then I found the TaxBack company ( http://www.taxback.com ) which got me a FULL refund not like the taxfix firm, at a lower fee! that is why I will never use taxfix again and I would recommend to you both TaxBack

Be careful with the commission they take, I used Sos Taxes and for the same service I paid only 9% commission.

Given this forum thread has turned into a promotion slot for services to help you with tax refunds I am adding my service. I charge a flat fee for my time which mostly works out cheaper for you than a percentage fee. It takes me the same amount of work for a small or large refund.

If you worked in the UK and have left part way through the year it is possible you will be due a refund.

The exact scenario will depend on many factors but in principle, if you leave the UK for good, and certainly more than 2 years then you are only taxed on your UK earnings to the date you leave.

If in this time you paid UK tax, you have a whole year personal allowance available which means your tax bill may be lower than the tax you paid and so a refund is often due.
