I wanted to open this thread as a place for people out there (that is, if you ever return here once you begin living the high life as an EU citizen  ) to share their success stories of confirming your Polish citizenship, and obtaining a Polish passport. Sometimes I need some inspiration to keep going!

So if you´ve finally reached the end of the journey, please share here!

Good idea... and apparently more and more Polish are returning, especially after the Euro going well and the level of living and earning going upper and upper in Poland.

After 14 months I got it.

I put in for citizenship in dec 07 after living in poland for 7 months. My parents were both born in Poland back in the 50's but have lived in the USA for about 40 years. I also have been married to a Polish citizen for over 4 years. We have a 3 year old daughter who also needed to apply. We applied to the Poznan office since that is what we were told to do in a smaller town. That was wrong since only Warsaw can take care of citizenships for people who never lived in the country before. After 6 months we were told we didn't send in all the info that should have been sent in originally. We were told in our town it was all good to go. No one even looked at the papers before it was in their office for 6 months. We were told that we had a only a few days to send in the rest of the documents or we would have to wait an additional 6 months for them to re-open the case. In this time the case worker quit and left our case to die. We called Warsaw again, with no one knowing anything about the case and told to call back in a couple of weeks. At that time, we got the runaround again. Saying that we still need to send in more info. They did not say what we needed to send in just that it was not enough info. Even though the person working on it before said everything was there. We got a letter in the mail stating what we needed to turn in, this was all news to us since no one in the past said we needed to submit that info. Every time we called which was often we were told something different. So finally today we got papers in the mail claiming we are legal. Even after the last phone call in February they were still waiting on an office of old records to finish our case. We were never told any good news any time we called. Every time was just to prolong the case with something different needed.

Main things to turn in among other things.

your birth cert. translated by a Polish official originals only.
marriage documents also translated by a Polish government official (if your name has changed)
    your parents birth records
(your parents marriage records to prove they were married before you were born is what they told me) - my towns government office told me this.
any more info like your parents millitary info, or passports to prove they were citizens since them just being born in Poland is not proof enough.
