    Hiya

Recently the home office has brought in a few new forms. I now need to fill in and send for an FMRS in my passport (Family member residency stamp)

I am South African and my wife is Hungarian who has only just now registered on the workers registration scheme. (Even though she has been working for a year already)

Once I get FMRS, am I able to continue working my full time job? (I'm currently on a working holiday visa, expiring soon) Does an FMRS allow me even to work? What exactly does it allow me to do and how long does it last? There is no information in the forms itself as to what it is.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

One more question. How long does it take to get FMRS done once sent? No information on the documents as to what length of time to expect.

    thanks

    Hi

I have recently submitted an application for an FMRS visa. I applied in October 2006 and have been advised that it can take up to six months for this type of visa to be approved- i am still eagerly awaiting. Basically once it is approved, you have the right to work and it will extend your stay in the UK for another year, which then you can apply for an unmarried visa which will give you a lot longer (not sure of the extension).

I am Australian and my working holiday visa ran out in October, but once the application for FMRS is lodged with IND, you are legally still allowed to work under the same rules of your working holiday visa until you recieve an answer from the home office!

    Hope this helps

    Finally! Finally...

2 days before my 6 month time I finally got my FMRS. Unforauntely that visa starts officially when my previous expired. It now expires in June this year. It's a bit silly because I've waited 6 months for a visa which is only going to last me 6 months!

Anyway, I'm glad it finally came after all this waiting. It's good to have your passport back in yours hands.

I'm assuming I need to apply for the EEA forms when this visa is near expiration? Anyone have any idea how long that takes?

    Thanks

PLease open a new topic as this thread deals with your FMRS experience, and not EEA forms. There is a sticky on the EEA forms that you can read, perhaps you will find answers there.
