    Hi All

    I am a German passport holder living in the UK. My husband, who is a South African citizen with South African passport, has his UK 5 year residence permit.
    I am not sure if he needs a Schengen Visa to travel to Schengen countries. If he does, where would we apply as there are a few places we would like to visit? We do not know which will be the first country either as we have family and friends dotted around all over the place.

    He doesn't need any visa but thats theory. In practice there are only a few countries who would let him in without a visa for example Holland and Portugal. So whether he has to get a visa or not actually depends which country is the first for arrival.
