Hi. This won't quite answer your question, but might help. My partner was born in South America, as well as his father. His grandmother (father's mother) was Spanish. His father obtained the Spanish citizenship not very long ago. This was done in Uruguay, South America, and amazingly enough, the process did not take very long. Because of his grandmother, my partner has the right to Spanish citizenship, but in order to get it he must spend a year in Spain as a LEGAL resident. That's the tricky bit. To be able to do that you must either get a job offer or be very wealthy and able to prove it. That part of the process is VERY long. To give you an idea, I am an EA national and automatically have the right to a Spanish residence card. That's the theory. In reallity, I applied for one last April (not an easy task, believe me) and last month I was told to come back in December, to see if there was any news. Good luck. Meg
