    Good Morning,

I am posting this topic on behalf of my daughter. She is an Indian, married a French National
in India in August 2006. Went to u.k in Septeber 2006. Initially she got RC for 6 months ending March 2007. Then she got endorsements in her passport FMRS for 5 yrs ending
July 2012. Both are holding good jobs in London. They own lease apartment at London jointly.

Unfortunately the marriage is not going well as her in-laws came there last year and had dowry disputes and other issues with my daughter. Consequently they both seperated and living in different rental houses since January 2010. They have let their own apartment on rent.

In my last post I got a reply that my daughter would get PR in August 2011 which is automatic, even if she is not divorced with her husband by then.
Can she apply for her French Nationality based on 4 yrs of Marriage. What documets she has to submit for the same. Is it possible to apply at the French embassy in u.k.
Your valuable advice would be appreciated. My daughter has all the copies of her husband's documents. I have my doubts whether her husband would co-operate in giving his original passport and Frech ID for verification. She has her original marriage certificate with her.

He gave her lots of mental torture from the time she entered u.k. She had to hand over full salary to her husband. Over and above do all the housework after office.
She is a highly educated girl who had very good job in India prior to her marriage.
I am really upset for her who is my only cheld. Please help.

    Regards

    Eliza

    Good Day,

I'm sure they would ask for my son-in-law's passport/ID at the French Perfecture. Ihave my doubts that he would co-operate by giving us his original documents. Can my daugher contact them at London, if they have their branch or go to France personally?

If she obtains french nationality, she would be free from immigration, can she opt for dual nationality for British. What would happen to her Indian Nationality then?
As she is our only daughter she is entitled for our assets in Mumbai and South India etc.
    Please highlight on this issue.

    Thanks in advance

    Eliza

    hi there!!
am not sure if you got a response about your daughters 4 year marriage period leading to french nationality.

the law in france demands that you are married and are in france for 4 years and live together for 3 of them.
then 5 years if u live abroad.
then 4 years like you said but her husband must have been registered with french consulate as a french person living abroad for the entire period.

    hope it helps.
