7 Best Work-From-Anywhere Jobs for Travelers and Expats

While some people prefer living in the same place being involved in a nine-to-five job, others would gladly choose a nomadic style of life. In the latter case, you should either have a passive income source, such as renting your house out or a job that will allow you a location independent lifestyle.

People who decide to work and travel usually get enrolled in online jobs allowing them to perform daily tasks by only having a stable internet connection and enough time. Previously, the palette of jobs that could be performed online was not very broad, but change has accelerated with the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing becoming the rule.

More and more companies start allowing their employees to work remotely permanently. This opens up an excellent opportunity to work while traveling (as soon as possibilities will be offered again) or even move to another city. Things might change sooner rather than later, however, the following jobs are very likely to remain suitable for travelers and expats in the future.

1- Graphic designer

Almost every company hires a graphic designer for creating a range of appealing visual materials such as logos, website layouts, brochures, and others. This will depend on the industry the company is operating in.

Graphic designers need a computer with a powerful graphics card and a range of software programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or Affinity Designer. A stable internet connection is, of course, a must to be able to communicate with customers effectively.

In addition, artists can create their own designs and post them on such platforms as RedBubble or other similar art marketplaces. Once your design gets downloaded, you will be paid.

2- Travel bloggers

During times of multiple restrictions all over the world, travel blogging may seem to be not the best idea for making money. At the same time, while most people are not able to travel due to the lack of available flights or bans of entry for foreigners to certain countries, it may allow them to change their mind and explore some future destinations.

Travel bloggers have a great opportunity to take advantage of the situation and show their subscribers the world. This will make them feel as if they are also traveling together with the blogger. If you are searching for the right place to share your insights from adventures, your travel guest posts will boost the number of visitors to your blog.

3- Audiobook narrator

Doing this kind of job is possible while traveling, though you will need to carry some extra equipment with you. Apart from the workstation, you will need a good microphone and also soundproofing accessories.

4- Language teacher

If you already have had several years of practice as a teacher, you might want to broaden your audience of students by going online. In 2020, there was a great progress leap in the sphere of online education as most students and teachers could meet each other only online.

There are plenty of language-learning platforms, such as Italki or Speaketto (see the dedicated article on the market place service where you can register for free and get pay for giving online lessons) where you can create your profile and find students from all over the world. Note that you might need to make a presentation, provide proof of teaching skills with a TEFL certificate, and create a learning program beforehand.

5- Translator

Those who possess knowledge of several foreign languages at an upper-intermediate or advanced level might be interested in doing translations. This refers both to written and verbal translations.

For instance, you can translate or localize articles from English to another language in written form. Meanwhile, you may find yourself in the mountains or near the seaside. Doing verbal translations requires not only a good knowledge of languages but also enough practice.

6- Digital marketer

The digital marketer's main tasks are to strengthen brand awareness, attract new customers, and praise the existing ones. Every digital marketer is operating available digital channels of the company.

As all the operations any digital marketer performs are online, it is possible to do this kind of job from any corner of the world while traveling.

7- Online customer service representative

When doing the job of the customer service representative, you need to possess strong communication skills and be stress-resistant (angry customers!). Undoubtedly, you will have to get all the necessary equipment, a reliable Internet connection, especially as you will be on phone calls most of the time.

Even though this job might seem challenging at first, it offers an excellent opportunity to learn a lot of new things. Also, a flexible schedule usually comes along with this profession. Instead of working from 9 am to 5 pm, you might be able to set your preferences and work at any time and on any day of the week.
