Expat guide: Lima, Peru We are proud to launch our new city guide for expatriates in  Lima, Peru.

Lima is the capital city of the Republic of Perú and the largest city of the country, and its population is around 8.574.974 inhabitants.

Nowadays, Lima is considered the political, cultural, financial and commercial centre of the country. At an international level, it is the third most inhabited metropolitan area in Latin America, it occupies the fifth place among the most populated cities in Latin America and it is one of the thirty most populated in the world.

During the last 10 years, Perú has become one of the fastest growing economies in all Latin America. According to the INEI (the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics), the poverty rate decreased by 36% between the same period and the Gross Domestic Product grew by 3.9%.

According to Euromonitor International research figures, nowadays, Lima contributes with the 46% of Perú's total GDP. It is the leading industrial, financial, and retail centre in the nation, it is home to many national companies and hotels, and it accounts for more than two thirds of Perú's industrial production and most of its tertiary sector.
