Hello, my name is Diana. I was born in Mexico and I moved to Germany with my husband and daughter a month after getting my bachelors degree in 2012.

1. Why did you move abroad?
My husband, Pablo,  received a scholarship to do his masters in Germany, and instead of him coming alone we accompanied him on this new adventure.

2. How do you make a living?
When we first moved here we had a scholarship that gave us enough money for us to live okay. But Pablo is now working at a University. I now have a work visa, so I will begin to look for a job, fingers crossed I find one soon after.

3. How often do you communicate with home and how?
We skype at least once a week and talk through whatsapp almost daily.

4. What's your favorite thing about being an expat in Hamburg?
The fact that it is a big city and Germany’s biggest port is not bad. I also like that there are many international folks here!

5. What’s the worst thing about being an expat in Hamburg?
I don’t think there is anything bad about being an expat here to be honest.. if you are craving something from home you should be able to find it in some part of this city.

6. What do you miss most?
The food, especially good meat, but I think I miss my family most.

7. What did you do to meet people and integrate in your new home?
I used facebook a lot, Found a group for expats here and I met up with other expat moms. Another thing I did was join a German class and met more friends through there.

8. What custom/ habits do you find most strange about your adopted culture?
The stores closing on Sundays, and that they don’t give you any bags for your groceries, Even though I have already gotten used to both of these, it took a while to get used to it.

9. What is a myth about your adopted country?
Oktoberfest happening in October.. it actually starts in September. (If that had already been said before than sorry about that.)

10. Is the cost of living higher or lower than the last country you lived in and how has that made a difference in your life?
The cost of living here is higher without a doubt, I even blogged about this in April.

11. What advice would you give other expats?
If you are doubting whether to move abroad or not definitely do it, it will be a great experience!

12. When and why did you start your blog?
I started blogging in March of 2013 because I learned about it in my job and I had friends that had one and thought it would be a good idea, I didn’t start blogging often until a year later.
