Guide for expatriates in Kuwait

Expat guide: KuwaitAnother new guide today (yes, we're working hard to produce many more): we are delighted to announce our new city guide for expatriates in Kuwait.

Kuwait City is a very modern, up-to-date Middle East capital that draws on western influence. Many of the world's top name brand restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, leading businesses and car dealerships can all be found here. Some well known stores include: McDonalds, Subway, Cheese Cake Factory, and Ruby Tuesdays, KFC, Taco Bell, Starbucks, and Coffee Bean. Kuwait City is also home to several major shopping malls, showcasing world famous clothing lines, shoes and accessories. Two of the more famous Malls in Kuwait are, The Avenues and 360 Mall.

Little has been done by the Kuwaiti Government to diversify and restructure its economy, in part due to the positive fiscal situation of previous years, but also due to the weak business climate. However, in 2010 the government passed an economic development plan, pledging to spend up to $104 billion over the next 5 years, dramatically shifting the focus away from oil and hopefully, attracting more private investments from within the country and abroad. Many are worried that such a sudden and dramatic increase in spending will even work.
