There are also frequent last-minute deals and discounts, as well as inexpensive off-Broadway and experimental productions throughout the city. Opera in New York

The Metropolitan Opera in New York is one of the world's leading opera companies from its opening in 1883. It is one of the premier opera locations in the world.

The Avery Fisher Hall, which includes the New York Philharmonic, features the annual Great Performers at Lincoln Center festival and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Recent renovations have improved the acoustics and is considered one of the best places in New York to observe classical music.

Culture bursts out of every avenue in New York and museums are plentiful. NYC hosts almost 100 museums, for all interests and budgets. • Ellis Island Immigration Museum: Located in the New York Harbour, this is where approximately 12 million passengers were processed between 1892 and 1954. Immigrants who entered the United States through the port of New York were legally and medically inspected at Ellis Island. In 1990, Ellis Island was renovated and transformed into a museum dedicated to educating visitors about the immigrant experience.
• Museum of Modern Art: Known as the "MoMA", this museum has an expansive collection of over 100,000 progressive paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, drawings, and design objects. MoMA also owns 14,000 films and four million film stills, as well as 140,000 books, artist books, and periodicals, all part of the Museum's library.
• The Whitney: One of the only museums that focuses entirely on American art.
