London has a number of cinemas featuring mainstream, foreign language and arthouse films. Ticket prices are usually about £8.50, but offer discount days (usually Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday if you are with Orange Mobile).

Cinemas in London:
• BFI IMAX - In Waterloo, this theatre has a screen the size of five double-decker buses and measures 26 meters across and 20 meters high.
• British Film Institute - The British Film Institute offers chances to see unique and independent films and meet prominent directors.
• Cineworld - This chain of three London-area sites – Feltham, Staples Corner and Ilford – shows blockbuster and Bollywood fare.
• Curzon Cinemas - A great place to see independent film and attend a director meet & greets.
• The Electric - Located on Portobello Road, this cushy theatre has 98 luxury leather armchairs with a foot stool and table. Tickets for two are in the £30 range.
• Empire Leicester Square - This cinema has the largest screen at 18.26 meters by 8.14 meters.
• Odeon - Located in Leicester Square, this theatre has the most expensive tickets at £19. It is also the largest single cinema.
• Prince Charles - Offers membership and discount showings in Leicester Square
• Roxy Bar & Screen - Often shows triple bills for as little as £3
• The Lexi - A new cinema in Kensal Rise

Nightclubs

London has a vibrant club scene with megaclubs and intimate, invite only dance spaces. Different areas host different vibes so investigate the neighborhoods to find the right fit for what you are looking for.

Tips to gain entry
• Don't try to enter as a large group. Break up into smaller groups if there are 5+
• Know the style of the club you are going to and dress for it. Being "too dressed up" might also be undesirable.
• Men have more trouble getting in so try to balance your group with more women than men.
• Bring cash. Covers can range from 5 to 20 GBP

Clubs

• Cable - Located in a train arch underneath London Bridge station, this is a two-room club with outdoor smoking terrace. Warehouse vibes and great line ups for the weekend.
• Club De Fromage - Self-proclaimed biggest pop club. Features Bon Jovi, Spice Girls and Michael Jackson and silly themes.
• Corsica Studios - Established by an independent arts organisation, this club is housed in the railway arches in Elephant and Castle.
• Dalston Superstore - In uber-hip Dalston, this gay mecca is a Berlin-style club. There is an open-plan upstairs bar with rave cave below.
• District - Located at the Browery, features funk, hip hop and dubstep to soul, New Jack Swing and soulful house.
• The Drop - Hosted by Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston (Hardway Bros), this is one of the best basement clubs. Located underneath the Three Crowns pub, this is intimate clubbing at its best.
• Great Suffolk Street Warehouse - A London warehouse rave space, this cavernous car park embodies the pop-up/warehouse vibe.
• Fabric - One of the most famous clubs in London, this is still the place for cutting-edge electronic music.
• Heaven - Mega club with an exciting mix of techno.
• Lemonade - Weekly showcase of live electro-edged acts of guest house and techno to disco. Admission is free before 10.30 pm. Tickets after 10.30 pm cost £5.00.
• The Loft - A loft space above Shoreditch railway station, this is a friendly club crowd.
• Ministry of Sound - Mega club, this is one of the most popular electronic clubs in London.
• Paramount Bar - Fancy club scene with glass-panels and the fanciest of crowds. Expensive drinks and elite atmosphere.
• Plastic People - One of the best small clubs in London, this is a no-frills 200 person space. Dark and moody, there is an intense sound system playing dubstep, funky and bass institution FWD.
• The Star of Kings - A basement gem in Kings Cross, this club was opened in 2010.
• XOYO Versus Ingredients - Eclectic club with experimental, next level D&B sets from dBridge, Total Science, Dub Phizix & Skeptical feat. Strategy and Jubei.
