Bangkok offers every facet of accommodations to its visitors. You can stay in an exclusive penthouse, or a bargain hostel. There are a few things to note:

• Traffic jams can make traversing the city nearly impossible so proximity to Skytrain, subway or river transport can be crucial.
• If you are unfamiliar with the Thai language, carry your hotel's address and name on a piece of paper. This can help if you need directions or are taking a taxi.
• Advance reservations are recommended if possible, especially during the high season of November to February.
• Some guesthouses will only take cash deposits, making reservations difficult.
• Note that you get what you pay for with the cheapest places often being tiny, dark, thin walled and sometimes grimy abodes. There are commonly shared bathrooms.

There are also many hotels in Bangkok, which you might expect given its popularity with tourists. The city offers its share of five-star lodging with complete amenities, but there are options in all price ranges. As an added bonus, most accommodations come at a far lower price than in Europe or North America. Visitors can pay as low as 200-400 baht per night, but generally expect to pay at least 1,000 baht for a standard room.

Hotels located at Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi International airports are in great locations for early morning or late night arrivals as traffic in and out of the city can be unreliable.
