Internships are an excellent tool for advancing your skills in a field of interest. These positions help young adults find a career path, test their aptitude for certain kinds of work, and further develop their resume or CV. Internships are almost always unpaid as what they are gaining are skills and experience and the company is gaining set of free hands. It is critical to find the right match so that the relationship is beneficial to both intern and company. Full time students have the easiest time finding internships because of their age, lack of real life skills, amount of free time, and education.

Completing an internship abroad adds an element of excitement and sets your experience apart. An professional experience abroad also requires a greater degree of maturity and independent. It is important that you adapt to the new environment, as it does not adjust to you.

To secure an internship aboard, it is necessary to either apply to a company that sets up the externship for you, or have a contact in Taiwan. Occasionally, internships can be set up through a university program. Having personal contacts in Taiwan greatly increases your chances of finding a position. It can be helpful to carry a letter of introduction with references.

Internship Visa

To complete an internship in Taiwan, a "Visitor Visa for Internship Purpose" is necessary.

  1. Completed and signed application form (obtainable from the BOCA website or consulates and embassies)
  2. Two passport-size photos in color within 6 months (Photo must have plain background)
  3. Passport (Valid for 6 months with blank pages)
  4. Approval letter issued by government agency (e.g.Permit issued by Ministry of the Interior/Ministry of Economic Affairs/Dept. of Health)

Fee for single entry:
USD 50(NTD 1,600)

Fee for multiple entry:
USD 100 (NTD 3,200)

Fee for American passport holders:
USD 140 (NTD 4,620)
